A simple, effective pipet washer for the clinical chemistry laboratory.

چکیده
P IPET WASHING has always been a major problem in. a clinical chemistry laboratory. When blood and other body fluids are pipetted the inside of the pipets tends to retain a coating of lipids which is often difficult to remove. On the other hand, the specimens are usually small and utmost accuracy is desired. A pipet which does not drain properly and retains drops of the solution on the inside of the walls contributes greatly to the analytic errors of the laboratory procedure. There are several systems of pipet-washing apparatus commercially available. In some, the pipets are placed in a glass or poiyethylene cylinder and air bubbles are introduced into the cylinder to agitate the washing solution. This results in satisfactory washing of the exterior of the pipets only. The effect on the inside is negligible, since the solution is stagnant there. Another system subjects the pipets, which stand on a wire mesh frame, to jets of detergent solution coming from above and below at the same time. The disadvantage here is that pipets of various dimensions when stacked do not stand absolutely upright. Therefore, the goal of having a detergent solution jet enter the pipet from the bottom and go straight up is rarely achieved. Normally, the jet enters the pipet at an angle,

A Simple and Effective Protocol for One-Pot Diazotization-Iodination of Aromatic Amines by Acidic Ionic Liquid [H-NMP]HSO4 at Room Temperature
A simple and efficient one-pot method for the preparation of aromatic iodides has been developed by sequential diazotization–iodination of aromatic amines employing sodium nitrite and sodium iodide in the presence of acidic ionic liquid N-methyl-2-pyrrolidonum hydrosulfate ([H-NMP]HSO4). The diazonium salts that are formed by this ionic liquid are stable at room temperature and r...
متن کاملSemiautomatic pipetting device (the governor pipet) for clinical chemistry procedures.
USTED et al. reported recently on the use of an electronic fibrin switch for the determination of prothrombin time (1). We have made similar observations and drawn the same conclusions, using this instrument (Fibrometer*). It occurred to us that the semiautomatic pipet employed for the measurement of plasma as well as reagents in the determination of prothrombin time might easily be adapted to ...
متن کاملTechnology of manually operated sampler pipets.
We have evaluated the performance of manually operated sampler pipets. Twenty-four instruments of various construction, manufacture, and delivery volume were evaluated. Pipet-delivered water and serum were repeatedly weighed under controlled environmental conditions, and precision and accuracy assessed. The pipets often failed to meet the manufacturer’s stated tolerance limits. Consumers should...
متن کاملA "wash-out pipet system" for sampling red blood cells.
For studying plasma and red blood cell (RBc) electrolytes, we have developed a method that allows frequent accurate and reproducible sampling of both plasma and RBC. We determined that for our purposes, a 1.0-nil volume of sample was optimum. Although the 1.0-nil “Class A” Ostwald-Folin blow-out pipet and the standard “Class A” transfer pipet were adequate for sampling plasma, they were not ade...

A simple highly versatile and efficient sonochemical synthesis of 1,2,4,5-tetrasubstituted and 2,4,5-trisubstituted imidazoles is achieved by condensation of 1,2-dicarbonyl compound, aldehyde, ammonium acetate and primary amine using antimony trichloride immobilized on silica gel (SiO2-OSbCl2) as a catalyst in ethanol at moderate temperature. Operational simplicity, practicability and applicabi...
